FISH

It’s been estimated that there are around 20,000 different species of fish swimming around in our oceans and rivers, and unfortunately, some people may develop allergies to certain types of fish. In fact, studies have shown that about 1% of Americans are allergic to fish, which can manifest as a reaction to one or several types of fish, depending on the individual.

Interestingly, the type of fish that triggers an allergic reaction varies from person to person. Some individuals may react to just one type of fish, while others may be sensitive to multiple types. It’s important to note that the proteins found in the meat part of the fish are the usual culprits, but the gelatin present in the skin and bones can also trigger an allergic reaction.
