Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT ARE THE MOST COMMON SYMPTOMS ADDRESSED?

The most common symptoms we see addressed are bloating, cramping, reflux, heartburn, gas, diarrhea, nausea, runny nose, sneezing, congestion, post-nasal drip, itchy watery eyes, coughs, wheezing, red, scaly or itchy rashes, hives, itchy skin, hyperactivity, mood swings, headaches and fatigue.

CAN A FOOD INTOLERANCE BE TREATED?

No. Food intolerances are not the same as allergies or sensitivities.

Food intolerances are due to lack of digestive enzymes and cannot be treated with AAT. For example, lactose intolerance refers to the inability to digest lactose due to a lack of an enzyme called lactase that breaks down lactose. AAT is therefore ineffective against an intolerance.

CAN ANAPHYLAXIS BE TREATED?

NO. The AAT Expert System does not treat anaphylaxis or any life-threatening symptoms or conditions. Strict avoidance is always advised.

What Cases Cannot Be Treated and Why?

The AAT treatment can only address symptoms caused by inappropriate reactions to harmless substances or stimuli. If the condition involves pathogens, (bacteria, viruses or parasites) the treatment will not be able to affect such cases.

AAT cannot treat intolerances, such as a lactose intolerance. If the symptoms are related to a sensitivity to milk or other dairy products, the treatment can be very effective. However, lactose intolerance in not an allergy, it is the inability to digest certain amounts of lactose, the major sugar found in milk. The condition is caused by a deficiency of the enzyme lactase, which is produced by the cells of the lining in the small intestine. Lactose intolerance is often confused with dairy allergies because the symptoms are similar, yet they are unrelated. However, the two conditions can occur together, and, in such cases, the AAT treatment can offer partial benefit.

While AAT can treat the many symptoms associated with allergies or sensitivities, some cases do not respond to the treatment.

AAT does NOT treat any anaphylactic reactions or treat for any items where the patient has been prescribed to use an epi pen.

How Many Treatments Are Required?

AAT treats one allergen family at a time, so the number of treatments depends on the number of allergen families involved in the reaction. But within each allergen family the specificity is identified down to the protein molecule, so each treatment is extremely comprehensive. As an example, an allergen family could be something like dust or dairy or grasses, and within each of the allergen families we can identify all of the components within the item that is causing a reaction, making for an exceptional and results driven treatment. Most of the time a single allergen family will respond to treatment within one to two sessions. Conditions, such as sinusitis or acid reflux usually take between 5 and 12 treatments, depending on how many allergen families are contributing to the condition.

HOW SOON WILL I SEE RESULTS?

Symptoms associated with a single allergy or sensitivity are commonly relieved after 24 hours.

Conditions, such as sinusitis or irritable bowel syndrome, usually start to improve within the first few treatments. The average number of treatments for a condition is 5 to 12 treatments, depending on how many families are contributing. However, each case is different and may require additional treatment. As with all health care modalities, some cases will not respond to treatment.

Are There Any Guarantees That Symptoms Will Be Alleviated?

As with all medical procedures, we cannot guarantee that it will be effective or that other symptoms will not occur.

Do You Ever Use Acupuncture for Treatment?

No. The AAT treatment doesn’t require the use of needles. Instead, it utilizes acupressure which is totally pain free.

Is There an Age Limit for Receiving Treatment?

No. The AAT Expert System can treat any age, from infants to 100+ years old.

How Long is an AAT Treatment Session?

The AAT Initial Session usually lasts between 40 minutes and one hour. The Initial Session includes:

  • completing the patient’s health intake
  • testing for all applicable substances that may be contributing to the symptoms that the patient is experiencing
  • explaining how the AAT treatment works
  • establishing a full treatment plan
  • giving the patient an AAT treatment

All AAT Follow-Up Sessions usually take about 20 to 30 minutes to complete.

A Follow up Session includes:

  • checking on the patient’s improvement
  • rechecking the previous AAT treatment
  • treating a new family group of substances with an AAT treatment.
Does the Patient Need to Stop Taking Medication in Order to Get Treatment?

No, you should not stop taking any medicine prescribed by your doctor. There is no need to stop taking over-the-counter medicines.

Is a General Allergy Test Needed Before an AAT Treatment?

No. AAT does not require traditional allergy tests before treatment, but if you have had an allergy test done by your doctor, you are encouraged to bring in the test results with you to your appointment.

Does AAT Perform Allergy Testing?

No. AAT doesn’t perform any allergy testing. However, during the initial AAT treatment session, a history is taken, and a stress assessment will be done to identify what substances are causing stress on your system and contributing to your symptoms.
