Media Interview Guidelines for AAT Practitioners
We have created this Media Guidelines document to address the unique nature of the AAT treatments and how they may be viewed in an interview on camera. It is essential to fully prepare and maintain control over key aspects of the interview process, including effectively leading discussions about AAT and making necessary adjustments based on the media platform.
The news media often aim to present a newsworthy story, which could potentially include a negative angle or presentation of you, your clinic, or the AAT technology. Our goal is to fully prepare you for a positive interview experience and to ensure that the AAT technology is presented in the best possible light. To help achieve this, we have compiled the following guidelines.
NOTE: We suggest taking the lead by providing the interviewer with a list of questions. This approach ensures the discussion focuses on key topics you want the public to know about, reduces surprises, and allows for better preparation. The interviewer will appreciate your assistance in helping them prepare for the interview, leading to a smoother, more engaging conversation for the audience. You can locate a list of questions at the end of this document.
ESSENTIAL POINTS BEFORE STARTING:
- Review the AAT Communications Guidelines: Ensure you have thoroughly reviewed the AAT Communications Guidelines.
- Treatment Guarantees: AAT does not guarantee its treatments are permanent due to potential anomalies and various factors that can interfere with the body's response to its environment.
- Life-threatening Allergies: AAT does not treat life-threatening allergies or reactions that cause anaphylaxis. It is crucial to clarify this policy in any interview to prevent misunderstandings and potential criticism from medical professionals.
- Prohibited Discussions: AAT practitioners are prohibited from discussing the treatment of internal biological substances.
- Avoid Claims of Curing: Do not make any claims about curing or eliminating allergies or sensitivities.
- Focus on Symptoms: Always reference treating the symptoms associated with allergies and sensitivities, not the allergies or sensitivities themselves. Focus on symptom relief.
GENERAL POINTS TO REMEMBER:
- Focus on Key Aspects: Minimize in-depth discussions of the AAT Stress Testing method (Muscle Response Testing - MRT) and the digital signals. Instead, keep the interview focused on:
- Reconditioning the body to no longer react to a substance.
- The results of AAT treatments.
- The many successful cases of AAT treatments.
- Proprietary Technology: Do not allow filming, photographing, or displaying the AAT software, allergen library, or protocols. These proprietary elements are what set AAT apart from other therapies. We do not wish to share them with non-AAT practitioners or the public, as this would reveal our trade secrets.
- Media Interview Authorization: AAT licensees can give interviews to various media outlets with permission from AAT Business Development Group. Contact us if approached for an interview related to the AAT therapy to ensure proper preparation.
CHECKLIST TO COMPLETE BEFORE INTERVIEW:
Treatment Demonstration Requests:
- Avoid accepting treatment demonstrations on difficult or complex cases, or specific substances such as wheat, dairy, fragrance, or cats/dogs.
- If the interviewer insists on a before/after treatment, ensure the case selected for the interview involves a straightforward allergic reaction with clearly known symptoms caused by the substance being treated.
- Avoid substances that may require multiple treatments or are difficult to treat quickly. Only work with substances where the patient knows their specific reaction and should require only one treatment.
Patient Preparation:
- Call the patients ahead of time to prepare them. Ensure the patient understands the unique nature of an AAT treatment. Explain that the primary objective is to expose them to the substance causing their inappropriate reaction while simultaneously stimulating specific acupuncture points along the spine to create a positive conditioning effect.
- Educate them that AAT uses digital signals to expose them to the substance.
Patient Interaction:
- Focus on the patient's symptoms or condition before and after the treatment and how the treatment has benefited them, rather than discussing the technical aspects. This approach helps to avoid any misrepresentations of the technology.
Discussion Focus:
- Minimize MRT discussions; focus on AAT’s success in treating symptoms and conditions.
- Explain AAT’s clinical assessment method and Stress Assessment (refined MRT) if necessary.
- Highlight AAT’s long history of successful treatments across various countries.
Responding to Questions About Testing:
- If questions persist about how reactions are tested, explain that the AAT practitioner makes a clinical assessment based on patient history and uses a specialized Stress Assessment method (a refined MRT) to determine if any system in the body is having an inappropriate reaction to a harmless substance. This measurable reaction, identified through MRT testing, causes muscle weakening.
Highlighting Success:
- Emphasize that AAT has treated tens of thousands of patients in the US, Canada, Japan, and Australia, administering hundreds of thousands of successful treatments over the past 28 years. Highlight AAT’s expertise in identifying substances contributing to symptoms.
INTERVIEWEE TIPS
Preparation:
- Review Notes: Always go over your notes, scripts, and sound bites before the interview.
- Practice Pace: Speak slower than usual, especially for podcasts, Facebook or Instagram Lives, or internet and radio interviews.
Key Points:
- Make Key Points Early: Start with the most important points to stay in control of the interview and convey what you want the audience to know.
- Provide “Situationalized” Questions: Provide “situational” questions to the interviewer ahead of time to help guide the questions and intentionally get the main points across.
- Emphasize Core Message: Emphasize that allergies and sensitivities are an error where the body perceives a harmless substance as harmful, and the AAT treatment corrects this error.
Handling Questions:
- Turn Negatives into Positives:
- Question: “Has muscle testing been proven to be a legitimate way of testing?”
- Answer: “No, but MRT is a common technique in alternative medicine to assess reactions to a substance. Though not scientifically proven, muscle testing has been used successfully for decades. It can be subjective, but AAT employs a proprietary 4-step method that significantly reduces subjectivity. AAT has used this type of testing for over 28 years with excellent results.”
- Simple Explanations:
- If the interviewer comments on the simplicity of AAT treatment, say: “It’s no simpler than a doctor injecting diluted allergen. AAT uses a similar mechanism, reconditioning the body to accept a harmless substance. Instead of months of allergy shots, AAT introduces a positive conditioning effect for faster results.”
- Q: Are Allergies on the Rise:
- A: Mention that many studies suggest the rise in allergies may be due to environmental changes.
- Q: re: Hygiene Hypothesis:
- State that it hasn’t been proven and doesn’t explain the increase in food sensitivities.
Personal Touch:
- Share Personal Experiences: Discuss how you were introduced to AAT, your experiences using it, personal stories or success cases and any initial skepticism you may have had.
General Tips:
- Keep Answers Brief: Use short sound bites and avoid lengthy responses.
- Stay Focused: Keep the interview focused on the key point: AAT reconditions the body to no longer perceive a harmless substance as harmful by creating a positive association.
DESCRIPTIONS AND COMMON QUESTIONS THAT MAY COME UP DURING AN INTERVIEW
Again, we encourage you to take charge of the interview by providing the following descriptions and common questions in advance. Sharing key information ahead of time ensures a smoother and more productive interview, as it allows the interviewer to familiarize themselves with the topics and details to be discussed. This preparation leads to more focused and insightful questions, resulting in a more efficient and informative conversation.
Please familiarize yourself with the full list of FAQs on the AAT websites. (www.advancedallergytherapeutics.com & www.aatexpertsystem.com )

This approach ensures clarity and understanding, regardless of the context.
HOW TO DESCRIBE THE AAT TREATMENTS:
ANSWER FROM THE WEBSITE:
It is important to understand that allergies and sensitivities are simply an error. The body is perceiving a harmless substance as being harmful. This inappropriate reaction contributes to symptoms. The AAT therapy can correct this error through a process called positive conditioning.
To do this we utilize specific acupuncture points along the spine that correlate with the organ systems and the sympathetic nervous system. By stimulating these points with pressure, we can achieve a calming effect within the body. As this is happening, we expose the patient to a digital representation of the substances they are having the inappropriate reaction to. Since these two things happen simultaneously, the exposure to the substance and the point stimulation, the body will make a new association to the substance.
So, by linking the calming effect that is happening in the body with the substance being treated, we create a positive conditioning effect to the substance, so it is no longer perceived as being harmful. This allows for a more appropriate response to the substance and symptoms are reduced.
Typically, patients can resume contact with the item treated after 24 hours.
CONVERSATIONAL RESPONSE:
Allergies and sensitivities are basically errors where the body sees a harmless substance as harmful, leading to symptoms. AAT therapy corrects this error through a process called positive conditioning.
We use specific acupuncture points along the spine that connect with the organ systems and the sympathetic nervous system. By stimulating these points with pressure, we create a calming effect in the body. While doing this, we expose the patient to a digital representation of the substances causing the inappropriate reaction. By combining the calming effect with exposure to the substance, the body forms a new, positive association with it.
This means the substance is no longer seen as harmful, leading to a more appropriate response and reduced symptoms. Typically, patients can resume contact with the treated item after just 24 hours.
WHAT IS AAT
ANSWER FROM THE WEBSITE:
Advanced Allergy Therapeutics (AAT) is a clinically proven treatment that is highly effective in treating the many symptoms associated with allergies and sensitivities. It was developed through over 28 years of collaborative research by healthcare professionals in the fields of acupuncture, naturopathy, and chiropractic. What makes AAT different is that it doesn’t rely on medication, herbal remedies, or supplements. And the best part? It’s completely safe and painless and is available to people of all ages, so everyone can benefit from this therapeutic approach.
The AAT treatments work directly with the relationship between the major organ systems and overreactions to harmless substances. While the immune system is responsible for initiating an immune reaction in the case of true allergies, it is the health and state of the organ systems that often determines the type of symptoms that may arise.
When it comes to sensitivities and allergies, symptoms typically stem from the organ system affected.
When it comes to reactions, using soybeans as an example, symptoms can vary greatly from person to person. For instance, one patient may experience rashes, while another may experience sinus congestion, heartburn, or even irritable bowel syndrome. Each of these symptoms represents a different organ system that is involved. By focusing treatment on the specific organ system(s) involved in a reaction, the body is better equipped to respond more appropriately to a substance, which means fewer symptoms.
CONVERSATIONAL RESPONSE:
Advanced Allergy Therapeutics (AAT) offers a highly effective and clinically proven way to treat allergy and sensitivity symptoms. Developed over 28 years by healthcare pros in acupuncture, naturopathy, and chiropractic, AAT stands out because it doesn't use medication, herbal remedies, or supplements. Best of all, it's safe, painless, and suitable for all ages.
AAT treatments work by targeting the relationship between major organ systems and their overreactions to harmless substances. While the immune system triggers reactions in true allergies, it's often the state of the organ systems that determines the type of symptoms you get.
Symptoms from sensitivities and allergies usually arise from the affected organ system. Take soybeans, for example. One person might get rashes, another might have sinus congestion, heartburn, or even irritable bowel syndrome. These different symptoms indicate which organ systems are involved. By focusing on the specific organ system(s) involved in a reaction, AAT helps the body respond more appropriately, leading to fewer symptoms.
UNDERSTANDING AAT
ANSWER FROM THE WEBSITE:
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, treatment methods involve stimulating specific points on the body to directly access each organ system and improve its state. The AAT therapy takes this approach one step further by utilizing the points in a unique and innovative way that has been proven to lead to successful treatments.
The treatment points used are situated along the spine and correspond to the location of the Sympathetic chain, which is responsible for our body’s “fight or flight” responses. By targeting reactive organ systems through these points in relation to a substance contributing to a reaction, it’s possible to alter a defensive reaction, allowing for a healthier response.
It’s important to note that AAT is exclusively used by licensed healthcare professionals in private practice. Each practitioner combines various modalities from within their scope of practice, and they may offer additional testing or treatment methodologies that align with their unique approach to patient care.

WHAT CASES CANNOT BE TREATED WITH AAT AND WHY?
ANSWER FROM THE WEBSITE:
The AAT treatment can only address symptoms or conditions caused by inappropriate reactions to harmless substances or stimuli. If the symptom or condition is caused by a pathogen (bacteria, viruses, or parasites), the treatment will not be effective.
AAT cannot treat intolerances. An intolerance differs from an allergy or sensitivity because it results from a deficiency, not an inappropriate reaction. For instance, AAT would not be effective in treating lactose intolerance, a condition caused by a deficiency of the lactase enzyme needed to break down lactose in dairy. However, if symptoms related to dairy are due to a sensitivity to milk or other dairy products, AAT treatment can be very effective. It is possible for lactose intolerance and dairy sensitivity to coexist, in which cases, AAT treatment can offer partial benefit.
AAT does NOT treat cases of anaphylaxis or life-threatening symptoms. In these cases, strict avoidance is always advised.
While AAT can treat the many symptoms associated with allergies or sensitivities, some cases may not respond to the treatment.
CONVERSATIONAL RESPONSE:
AAT treatments only work for symptoms or conditions caused by inappropriate reactions to harmless substances or stimuli. If a symptom or condition is due to a pathogen like bacteria, viruses, or parasites, AAT won’t be effective.
AAT also can't treat intolerances, which are different from allergies or sensitivities because they result from a deficiency, not an inappropriate reaction. For example, AAT can't help with lactose intolerance, which is due to a lack of the lactase enzyme needed to digest lactose in dairy. However, if your symptoms from dairy are due to a sensitivity to milk or other dairy products, AAT can be very effective. Sometimes lactose intolerance and dairy sensitivity coexist, and in such cases, AAT can provide partial relief.
AAT does NOT treat anaphylaxis or life-threatening symptoms. In these cases, strict avoidance is always recommended.
While AAT can effectively treat many symptoms associated with allergies or sensitivities, it may not work for everyone.
IS THERE AN AGE RESTRICTION FOR THE AAT TREATMENTS?
No. AAT can treat any age, including infants.
HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?
ANSWER FROM THE WEBSITE:
AAT patients have consistently reported long-term results years after treatment. However, AAT cannot guarantee that new allergy or sensitivity symptoms will not be developed in the future. In most cases, the results have shown to be long-term.
CONVERSATIONAL RESPONSE:
AAT patients often report long-lasting results that can last for years after treatment. However, we can't guarantee that new allergy or sensitivity symptoms won't develop in the future. But, for most people, the results have been long-term and very effective.
DOES AAT PERFORM ALLERGY TESTING?
ANSWER FROM THE WEBSITE:
No. AAT doesn’t perform any traditional allergy testing. AAT utilizes a Stress Assessment (Muscle Test) to identify items that are causing stress on the body’s systems and contributing to the patient’s symptoms.
CONVERSATIONAL RESPONSE:
No, AAT doesn't perform traditional allergy testing. Instead, we use a Stress Assessment (Muscle Test) to pinpoint items causing stress on your body's systems and contributing to your symptoms.
WHAT IS AAT’S SUCCESS RATE IN TREATING THE SYMPTOMS ASSOCIATED WITH ALLERGIES AND SENSITIVITIES?
ANSWER FROM THE WEBSITE:
AAT’s success rate is in the mid to high-80 percentile after tracking results for the past several decades.
AAT has treated tens of thousands of patients and administered hundreds of thousands of treatments with long-term results in the vast majority of cases. It is a repeatable technology and has the collaboration of a multitude of practitioners who are in the clinics daily treating patients. The success rate is not yet 100% as there are many variables in human physiology as well as the complexities of allergens. The AAT body of research is always expanding, and the success rate continues to increase.
To clarify, no therapy can guarantee 100% success for every patient, every time. However, AAT is extremely proud of our consistent and successful results over the decades, and we are committed to maintaining this success now and in the future.
It's important to acknowledge that despite our high success rates, there are instances where some individuals may not respond as expected to the therapy.

WHAT IS A DIGITAL SIGNAL?
ANSWER FROM THE WEBSITE:
The digital signal used in the AAT technology has been developed with the assistance of engineers and the company’s software developers. The digital signals are proprietary therefore the details are not available to the public.
The digital signal is not a frequency. It is not an electrical current.
The signals are entirely non-invasive. In fact, the transmission of the signal to the surface of the skin has no therapeutic effect on the body. It is the acupressure stimulation during the transmission of the signal that corrects the physiological error. Therefore, the AAT software technology itself is not a therapeutic device.

COULD THE TREATMENT SUCCESS BE DUE TO THE PLACEBO EFFECT?
No, because the treatment works just as well on infants and animals, which rules out the possibility of a placebo effect.
HAS THE AAT TREATMENT BEEN MEDICALLY PROVEN/ ARE THERE ANY STUDIES?
ANSWER FROM THE WEBSITE:
Although double blind controlled studies have not yet been conducted on the AAT treatment, its efficacy has been well established and proven through over 28 years of clinical practice, demonstrating consistent results and solid success across tens of thousands of cases and hundreds of thousands of treatments.
The AAT treatment is not a traditional medical treatment. It has been developed from an entirely different field of therapeutics using the principles of Traditional Acupuncture, the study of human physiology and an in-depth knowledge of allergens/offending agents. The AAT research team comprises medical doctors, acupuncturists, naturopaths and chiropractors.
Many highly effective alternative therapies exist without formal studies, which does not diminish their effectiveness.

DOES THE AAT TREATMENT SUPPRESS SYMPTOMS?
ANSWER FROM THE WEBSITE:
No! The AAT treatments restore proper function within the body, creating a normal reaction to a harmless substance.
The AAT methodology diverges from many holistic approaches in its perspective on allergies and sensitivities, aligning more closely with principles from immunology, which view allergies and sensitivities as a form of an “error." Yet, AAT extends beyond this understanding.
If the body reacts to harmless substances, it's an error. Corn, pollen, grains, and pets are not inherently harmful. However, when these substances interact with pollutants or undergo modification, the body may mistakenly perceive them as threats, leading to negative associations and unwanted symptoms upon exposure. Correcting these associations involves retraining the body to recognize these natural substances as benign.
Instead of restricting patients from nutritious foods due to symptoms, AAT offers an alternative: enabling patients to consume these foods without adverse effects by correcting the error in perception the body is having to the item. Some holistic practitioners develop biases against wholesome foods, attributing negativity to the food itself rather than the alterations it undergoes or the error that arise from exposure. While advising patients to avoid certain foods is reasonable for short term relief, long term restriction is not a healthy solution.
When individuals feel better after avoiding certain foods, it's not because the food is inherently problematic, but because they're avoiding substances, they are having an inappropriate reaction to, due to an error having developed. Rectifying these errors allows them to enjoy the substances again without the symptoms. Each error or inappropriate reaction that is corrected, reduces the overall stress on the body, enhancing health and wellness of the person.
AAT also addresses inappropriate reactions to biological substances produced by the body itself. These substances are essential, but something triggers the body to perceive them erroneously. AAT corrects these errors to restore proper functioning, addressing not only symptoms from allergies and sensitivities but also biological misperceptions.
AAT represents a comprehensive scientific approach that views the body differently, focusing on restoring its natural relationship with food, environmental elements and essential biological substances.
The AAT treatment restores harmony between the body and its surroundings, bringing joy to patients by helping them to eat their favorite foods or enjoy the outdoors again, without symptoms. Practitioners appreciate resolving these errors, as it provides a clearer understanding of patients' health without the interference of symptomatic confusion caused by errors.
CONVERSATIONAL RESPONSE:
No, AAT treatments don’t suppress symptoms—they restore proper function in the body, allowing for a normal reaction to harmless substances.
AAT takes a different approach from many holistic methods. It aligns more closely with immunology, viewing allergies and sensitivities as errors. If your body reacts to harmless things like corn, pollen, grains, or pets, it's a mistake. These substances aren't harmful on their own, but when mixed with pollutants or modified, the body might wrongly see them as threats. This leads to negative associations and symptoms. AAT retrains the body to recognize these substances as harmless.
Instead of telling patients to avoid nutritious foods because of symptoms, AAT offers an alternative: correcting the body's perception error so they can eat these foods without issues. Some holistic practitioners might blame the food itself rather than the changes it undergoes or the error in the body's response. While avoiding certain foods might help in the short term, long-term restriction isn’t healthy.
When people feel better after avoiding certain foods, it’s not because the food is inherently bad, but because they’re avoiding something their body is reacting to incorrectly. Fixing these errors lets them enjoy these foods again without symptoms. Each correction reduces overall stress on the body, enhancing health and wellness.
AAT also tackles inappropriate reactions to substances produced by the body. These are essential, but sometimes the body mistakenly sees them as threats. AAT corrects these errors, improving overall function and addressing symptoms from both allergies and sensitivities.
AAT represents a comprehensive, scientific approach that focuses on restoring the body's natural relationship with food, environmental elements, and essential biological substances. It helps patients enjoy their favorite foods and the outdoors again without symptoms.
ARE THERE ANY GUARANTEES THAT SYMPTOMS WILL BE ALLEVIATED?
ANSWER FROM THE WEBSITE:
As with all medical procedures, we cannot guarantee that the treatment will be effective for every patient or that other symptoms will not occur.
CONVERSATIONAL RESPONSE:
Just like with any medical treatment, we can't guarantee that AAT will work for every patient or that new symptoms won't appear.
